My Review

Wolf Moon: A Grazi Kelly Novel by C.D. Gorri
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Incredible Book! I couldn't put it down for a second! C.D. Gorri is a wonderful author who keeps you hooked from the very first word and keeps you guessing all through the story. I loved the uniqueness of the story and the brilliance of the characters and their lives as this was not your typical werewolf story.

As a witch myself, I didn't like that they had to be one of the villains talked about in the story as they are so often painted as the bad guys and thrown in with the devil, but there always has to be a bad guy right? As real witches don't believe in the devil this is what makes for a good story and what sets it apart from real life.

The villain that was fought in the story I totally didn't see coming and was so brilliant! I can usually guess who it is before the end of the book and I had totally no idea! The villain is one of the best parts of the book and if don't correctly usually tells the best story and this one was amazing!

Another thing that sets a book I find is the behind the scenes characters, the characters that most people notice but overlook because of the love they have for the main characters. I always try to pick one of this characters and tell why they are my favourite and not the main characters because everyone knows the main characters are great. My favourite Character in this one was a toss up between Nonna and Angela. Nonna was amazing, everyone's ideal grandmother always loving, stubborn, and never lets you down. Angela is that friend you always hope you will meet you is the true friend, loving, kind, thoughtful and has your back when you need it.

The werewolves in this story were so different and unique that I really got into the story. I have a big love of shifter stories and this one caught my interest right away. I love stories that are unique and go their own way and this one defiantly fits the bill. I loved the way it ended as well and I so can't wait to read the next one!

I highly recommend this story to one and all! especially to all the supernatural story fans out there! TBR and get your copy today!

How becoming a Werewolf has affected my life by Maria Graziana Kelly

Hi. My name is Grazi. A few months ago Nonna, that’s my grandmother, I live with her. Anyway, she started acting all weird. Her normally delicious food started tasting bitter. Even my favorite iced tea and hot cocoa. I didn’t know it then, but she was poisoning me. No, it’s not what you think. She wasn’t trying to kill me or anything. More like she was trying to give me more time and protect me from becoming what I really am. I’m a Werewolf. Yes, it is absolutely true and absolutely unbelievable.

I wouldn’t have bought it either except I can see my wolf. In my mind. More than that, we speak to each other. She is the other side of me. Like she may be more me than I even am. If that makes any sense.
So anyway, I’m stronger. I’ve gained some muscle. I’m faster. And I’m a heck of lot more coordinated than I used to be. I actually scored a goal in soccer in gym the other day.

It hasn’t made living with my Aunt and cousins any easier, but that’s okay. I find I’m too busy now to really pay attention to them.
My Uncle Sean, my father’s brother, is a priest from Ireland and he’s training me. He brought over this guy to train with me too. But he already knows everything. His name is Ronan. He’s a year older than me. He’s a Werewolf too. He’s alright I guess.

You know, if you like boys with reddish hair and emerald green eyes, who are six foot three and muscular and can sing and play the piano. Anyway, he can be a bit annoying or infuriating. It depends. One minute we’re cool then he like, goes all moody and sour.

Anyway, Nonna is always worried now and I am sorry for that. I’m ashamed to say I was mad at her for not telling me about my mom and dad. About him being a werewolf too and how they died and all. She is trying her best to make peace with it. She doesn’t go to Church more than once a day anymore and that’s an improvement. She also stopped adding crucifixes and statues of saints to my room. Good thing too. I was running out of shelf space.

Oh, I’m still doing well in school. It seems I need less sleep, I have like oodles of energy so I am pretty caught up in all my classes. Sebby wants me to join the girls’ soccer team, but I don’t think so. I have way more to learn with Uncle Sean. It’s weird, school and getting good grades were like my whole life before. Now I have to learn what I can about myself and this new world I’m in.

Keeping it a secret has been pretty hard. I wish I had Angela to talk to about this kind of stuff. Like my clothes hardly fit anymore, my hair is ridiculously long, and about that time of the month, you know the full moon, I am left with some serious face fuzz afterwards. Thank goodness for the beauty salon Angela took me to and their laser hair removal tech.

So, let’s see I’m still me. But different. My heightened senses are taking some getting used too. So is my strength. I accidentally broke the mailbox the other day slamming it closed. Uncle Vito, Nonna’s son, thinks it was kids from the neighborhood playing a prank. I can smell things now too. Not just your perfume and soap. I can smell emotions. Lies, jealousy, happiness, things like that. They all have their own particular odor. Cool, right?

Oh, and my seriously favorite thing about being a Werewolf is the food. Typical right? Seriously though, being a Werewolf gives you a lot of energy to run around and stuff, but also you get a killer appetite. I feel like I eat all the time. Nonna is super busy keeping the fridge stocked with fresh roasted turkey, baked fish, yogurts, nuts. All kinds of goodies. Keeps her from worrying and keeps me in top shape.

I guess you don’t get a choice when you’re a Werewolf. It’s not like a potion you take, or a bite, or anything like that. I was born this way. I don’t feel put out by that. I feel like I had been missing a huge chunk of who I am for so long. I used to think it was my parents, because they died when I was three. And yeah that is still there and it hurts, but now I know the majority of what I was feeling had to do with not knowing about my Werewolf side and being apart from it.

I guess it’ll take some time before I know everything there is to know about being a Werewolf. And more time to learn what it is to be a Hound of God. So, I’m still learning, but don’t worry I’m a quick study

Excerpt

I went over to the window and pried it open. The frame groaned but with a jerk the window slid up and cool air streamed in. The fresh smell of rain in the night was one of my absolute favorites.
A shadow shifted on the street. I poked my head out. Even in the rain, the hooded stranger waited on the other side, staring at my window. I grabbed my cell phone from the nightstand and the pepper spray from my purse, slipped into my ballet flats and rushed out of the room and down the stairs. Devon appeared in the hall, his eyes bleary. I didn’t stop to explain.
My feet carried me outside where the rain plastered my hair down and soaked through my clothes. The stranger turned the corner as I crossed our front yard.
I pumped my legs. I heard Devon’s steps behind me and his shouts of confusion, but I turned a corner and then another until it appeared that I’d lost him. I stormed into the forest at the edge of our neighborhood, where the stranger had disappeared just moments before.
From up ahead, the sound of twigs breaking kept me on the trail. Devon must have given up or lost sight of me because I didn’t hear him behind me.
Without streetlights, the forest’s darkness was absolute. Rain rattled the leaves, and twigs snapped under my shoes. Shape-shifting while running was difficult and straining, but with Madison’s short legs I’d never catch the guy. Who was he? The killer? And I was alone in a dark forest with him. Maybe not my best plan.
I let the rippling wash over me. Tearing, stretching, twisting, remodeling. My clothes strained and ripped. I stumbled a few times over my lengthening legs but then, with Alec’s body, I gained on the stranger. Wind howled in my ears and for a moment I lost my bearings as he disappeared from view.
Up ahead, something flashed in the blackness like a beacon. He’d turned around to check if I was still following. My breath rasped in my throat as I jumped over a fallen trunk. The forest was cloaked in mist, concealing the outline of the mysterious figure.

EXCERPT

He strode to me and crouched at my hip. His shirt was already off and the nearness of his well-built chest made it a challenge to stop myself from glancing at it. To my astonishment, he seemed not to notice my internal plight, not even the tremble that shook me when he tenderly took my chin and turned it toward him.

"You're healing nicely," he observed, concentrating on my forehead.

"Mm-hmm." It was all I could muster.

This was the closest we had ever been. His lips were no more than a few inches from me and drew my attention.

"I don't think you'll even scar."

When I didn't answer, I felt a shift in his presence and my eyes darted up to find him staring back with his striking blue-green eyes.

We froze in place.

Only our chests rose and fell, and they did it more rapidly the longer we stared at each other.

As his eyes lowered to my lips, his fingers tightened gently around my chin.

The flare of his nostrils and the intensity of his stare mesmerized me, made me want him closer. And it told me that he was struggling too and was in profound debate over what we were doing. No ward should be this close to their guardian, even if the ward didn't recognize them as one. It was taboo, unheard of, an abject insult to the role the guardian had been given. Yet, here he was, looking at me, at my lips, tensing at the sight of them.

And he wasn't alone in the struggle. For the first time, I forgot my urge to throw him off balance, my need to establish my independence. I was the one quickly losing my poise and forgetting who was dominant. The charm I fought so hard to deny, the very one that drew all others to him, took hold of me. And I gave into it out of my own free will.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Life in Gloucester Massachusetts will never be the same.

Raging storms, fierce winds, shadows shifting in the breeze. Storms are nothing new for the fishing hamlet.

But darkness has come to claim the hearts and minds of those that stand in it too long. When that happens, love will be ripped from man leaving only violence, despair, and gnashing teeth.

Except

The door chimed and I glanced over, fluffing my red curls slightly. He was right on time.
With Brooding wide shoulders, Deputy Gabriel Manning could fill out a uniform in all the right places. His hair was sandy brown, and soft like an ocean’s wave. My heart skipped a beat in the way it had when I knew Gabriel growing up, but what girl hadn’t had a crush on him?
“Deputy.” I said with a smile as I poured a cup of coffee into a Styrofoam cup and attached a lid. “Danish?”
“Not today. I have to watch the calories.” Gabriel smiled and patted his perfectly flat stomach. Perfectly perfect was more like it. On more than one occasion I had imagined him without his shirt. Always made me feel guilty, I wasn’t ready to move on, and he just wasn’t my friend.
He was Rick’s friend too.
That just made it a whole host of complicated and while I knew Gabriel should have been off-limits, nobody told my heart that.
He took the coffee and his fingers swept across mine gently, but I knew he did it on purpose. It made me blush, but my heart sprouted wings. He had been working up to something for a while, but I never said anything. Always pretended I didn’t notice. My heart shouted at me through a bullhorn to say or do anything, but the guilt stopped me.
Guilt like I was betraying my dead soon-to-be-husband with his closest friend. Meanwhile Rick was somewhere at the bottom of Gloucester Harbor, still never found.

My Review

Finding Me by Dawn Brazil
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing Read! I couldn't put the book down! Dawn Brazil is a wonderful author I found her story most intriguing and her characters were different and absolutely wonderful. She writes with such an ease that you feel as if your right there with the characters and before you realize it you have read the whole book in one sitting.

The book is edgy as well you never know what is going to pop up next or what mystery is going to be uncovered around the corner, the cliff hanger ending leaves you needing the next book right now!..lol

I can't wait to see how the story unfolds and what happens to the characters next! they were all so unique and interesting I don't know if I could choose just one to love the most but I certainly loved them all in different ways. their personalities were very well written and the villain totally shocked me! I am usually able to figure it out before the end and I so had no idea about this one! so way to go Dawn!

The villain was executed brilliantly in this and was one of my favourite parts of the book. Apart from being scary on occasion like most villains tend to be this one was smart, crafty and kept to the shadows till the end to reveal themselves which I though was awesome. They didn't just come at the characters full force and have lots of battles, instead it was always when the characters lest expected and was executed in a way so that they never knew who was attacking and then the villain was gone. total ninja style!

Dawn Brazil is totally brilliant and you all have got to read this book! TBR today and get your copy!

EXCERPT

Rick was still on some tirade about the heat, possibly trying to blame an August heatwave on sorcery, or perhaps the wrath of God, when I got the oddest sense of foreboding. It was a tingle, one of those things that is easily dismissed in the moment but, in retrospect, makes you think, I had a feeling…

Upon entering the diner my impression of danger strengthened, though it took me a minute to pinpoint the source of the threat. I noticed two things at once: First, Mrs. Meyer’s oddly shifty gaze as she worked the cash register, and second, the nervous expression of the stooped, middle-aged man standing opposite her.

The tinkle of bells startled the man in front of the register more than it should have. He turned slightly, took a good look at Rick and me in our deputy’s uniforms, and let out a cry of alarm. The next thing I knew he held a pistol in his shaking hands. “Don’t move!”

I froze. In that microcosm of time between instants, I gathered that Rick and I had interrupted a robbery and the man probably thought someone had called the cops. There was a sense of desperation about the man that made him seem wild and unpredictable – a dangerous combination, especially for a man holding a deadly weapon.

When time resumed, everyone in the diner began to panic. More than a few people screamed. Dishes fell and broke. Everyone scrambled for cover, most sheltering under tables.

In the midst of the chaos, the man’s shaking hand jerked upward and fired a shot into the ceiling, showering plaster and debris all !over a quaking Mrs. Meyer.

“I said don’t move!” He brought the gun back down and aimed it at me. “Drop your weapon.”

With painstaking slowness, I moved my fingers toward my sidearm. To my right and just behind me Rick stood stock still, not going for his weapon at all.

“Don’t try anything!” the gunman warned. He waved the gun at Rick. “Drop your weapon, I said!”

“It’s okay,” I tried to make my voice sound soothing. “You don’t want to hurt anyone. If you put the gun down, we can work something out.”

My gun was halfway to the floor when Rick suddenly withdrew his weapon and aimed it at the gunman, pairing the two of them off in a good old-fashioned Mexican standoff. “Drop your weapon!” Rick shouted.

For a second, I truly believed I would die. The gunman looked crazy and desperate enough to start shooting at a moment’s provocation. I even thought I saw his finger tighten around the trigger.

The gunman opened his mouth as if to speak, but then something rather odd happened. The only physical signs were his eyes, which took on a sudden vacant expression, and his fingers, which went limp. His gun clattered to the floor.

Not sure what had just happened, but not about to let the opportunity pass me by, I rushed up to the man, kicked the gun away, and twisted his hands behind his back. He didn’t even resist as I forced him to the ground, slapped cuffs on him, and patted him down in search of other weapons.

Rick came up beside me. “You shouldn’t have lowered your weapon. I had it under control.”

I doubted it. I wasn’t sure what had happened, but Rick’s move might have gotten me killed. It wasn’t the right time to discuss it, though, so with one knee on the gunman’s back to make sure he didn’t move, I radioed the station for backup. After that, I scanned the crowd for signs of injury. Everyone seemed fine, if rattled, but one face in a nearby booth caught my attention.

Matthew Blair, state senator, son of the mayor, and powerful mind mage, winked at me. Casually, he unfolded his wallet, slid a couple of bills onto the table, and walked outside. But he left me in no doubt that he had used his talents on the gunman to force him into docility.

On a positive note, Rick left the department that afternoon. I’m not clear if he quit or if the sheriff fired him, but he decided to head up private security for his church. I couldn’t feel too surprised when I’d never had a partner last much longer than a month anyway.

Christine currently lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, Austin, who has been her biggest fan and the key to her success. They have two beautiful children.
