“I’ve wanted to kiss you for months. I kiss you and you taste like Goddamn strawberries! I fuckin’ love strawberries. I want to eat you, do you understand? Your mouth…I want it.”
“I’ve been waiting hours for that mouth of yours. You look so good, and I’m pretty sure you’re wearing something underneath that dress that’s going to drive me crazy later, so, don’t fuck around with me. I want your mouth.” He demanded. His smile was gone, replaced by heated eyes.
“I’m going to kiss you now, Jessica. Really kiss you. Do you understand?” She didn’t answer. She didn’t have to. The fact that her tongue involuntarily shot out to moisten her bottom lip was response enough. “Give me your mouth, baby.”
How was he supposed to get on with his life when he was so completely in love with someone who didn’t feel the same way?  How did one fall out of love? Because, that’s exactly what he needed to do in order to move on with his life.

Jennie filled the glass and set it on the counter. She needed an ibuprofen.
As she reached up to the top shelf in the pantry, a vibration started in her chest. Holding the white bottle in her hand, she turned around confused.
Like a jet when it flew too low, the rumble increased in intensity as it approached. Jennie watched the glass tremble on the counter top for a moment before fear clenched her stomach. “MOM!?”
She rushed to the sink and looked out the window, but her mother wasn’t in the garden any more. Jennie barreled through the kitchen, the vibrations in her chest like bass on a stereo. “MOM?”
When Jennie reached the back door, she saw them. Four large dog-like creatures with pinched faces like bulldogs and lion-like manes. They snarled, and one of them leapt at the window on the top half of the door when it saw her. Jennie jumped back and fell hard on the cold tile floor. The bottle of painkiller bounced across the kitchen tiles. The creature slammed against the window a second time, cracking it. She blinked hard. Her heart sunk, and the hairs on her arms stood on end. A horrendous gargling howl rent the air, causing a shiver down her spine. She held her breath and waited for the creature to slam into the door again.
“What on earth?” she whispered to herself.
When the third attempt never came, she scrambled toward the door. Blinking hard, she used the door knob to help herself stand. Out the cracked window, her mother was still out of sight, but the last of the dogs headed across the field behind her backyard.
“MOM?” Jennie called out.
The rumbling faded, and the vibrations in her chest receded with the dogs. She pulled open the door and rushed onto their back deck. “Mom, where are you?”
When she reached the banister, she looked over the side. Her mom lay sprawled with one hand on the lattice. Blood gushed from Mom’s leg and her opposite arm. Jennie’s ears rang and flooded with every beat of her heart.
Jennie didn’t know how she got to the second floor of her house, but she found herself shaking her sleeping father. How had he slept through the rumbling? “Outside, it’s Mom…”
Her father leapt from the bed. Mickey, her little brother, lay asleep and undisturbed. Dad ran down the stairs and outside in his flannel pajama bottoms and white t-shirt. He scooped Mom up to his chest and carried her inside. Blood stained his shirt in crimson.
“Jennie, call 911!”  Her father had said it at least three times before it finally registered in her brain.
She pulled the cell phone from her pocket, but it refused to connect. With a groan, she grabbed the cordless from the wall receiver, glad her heart stopped pounding in her head so she could hear.
“All operators are busy at this time,” a mechanical voice deadpanned, “Please stay on the line, and the next available operator will take your call.”
“They have me on hold, Dad. Should I hang up and try again?” She held the phone in both hands away from her face.
“No, just stay on the line.” Her father lifted the shredded jeans from Mom’s leg. “It looks like a shark bite. What on earth happened?”
Jennie took in the damage through tear-filled eyes. A huge chunk was taken from her mother’s calf, exposing the fibrous tendons that covered the bone in her leg. A bloodstain grew on the beige couch. Was she going to die? Panic rose up.
“What happened, Jennie?”
“I...I...They looked like lions, or dogs, or something. The rumbling shook the whole house…I tried to go outside to get Mom, but—” A sob blocked her throat.
Her father grabbed a throw pillow and held it against the leg. Mom’s exposed forearm laid across her chest in much the same condition as her calf.
“Grab me the duct tape.”
Jennie suddenly remembered the phone, put it back to her ear, and headed to the hall closet. She reached for the shelf above the jackets and grabbed the junk basket next to the toolbox.
“Please stay on the line. An operator will be with you shortly.”
She shoved the phone in the crook of her neck and fished through the box.  Half the contents dropped around her feet. Who cares? When her fingers wrapped around the silver duct tape, a short-lived relief sent prickles down her arms. But the urgency gripped her chest in less than a heart beat, and she threw the junk basket on the ground with the rest of the items.
“Hurry, Jennie!” her father called from the living room. “And turn on the TV. Maybe they’ll have something about what’s going on.”
She handed her father the tape and turned toward the TV. The mechanical voice on the phone came through again, followed by more easy listening.
When she clicked on the TV, the shouting and wailing began before the picture warmed up on the screen. A sideways picture of New York City broke through, with the shaky voice of the newscaster voicing over.
“What we are watching now – I can’t believe it – is live footage of Times Square,” the newscaster’s voice paused for a deep breath. “We’ve lost our man on the scene and his camera man to what appears to be some kind of new alien creature. Just a short half-hour ago, the doors to the ship that hovered above Central Park opened and these dog-like creatures flooded out.”
Jennie couldn’t pull her eyes from the screen. She straightened and dropped the phone on the hardwood. The battery popped out and skidded across the floor.

Heart of a Rocky by Kelsey Jordan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

this was an incredible book I love Kelsey's writing! I was intrigued by Omar and Anise's story in the previous book and I was very pleased how it played out in this one. Kelsey has a flare for dramatic females and males who complement them nicely...lol

the other half of the story I found myself captivated by as well. I didn't expected a change in the books dynamic halfway through and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't interrupt the flow. Kelsey is a brilliant writer and it changed from one story to the next as if it was still all the same. I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve for the next book in the series as I quite like these characters and love how she twists about their stories.

I enjoy the dynamic of the pack life, the females are strong the men loyal and the gods they worship wonderful, strange and pains in the ass but what god isn't...lol...the stories are full of love, sacrifice, friendship and above all family and I think that is what makes Kelsey's books the best. They never go down without a fight and they never fight without each other.

I can't wait to see whats next...

WW4BB Presents: A Review of Reave by C. Miller

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 9:06:00 am

How far would you go to be free—to make your own choices without being subjected to punishment for doing what you felt was right? Could you kill for it?

After being abandoned by her father as a child, Aster spent ten years of her life as a servant for the leader’s House in the broken city of New Bethel. She’d known, even as a child, that the cities of her world were corrupt places with human monsters—assassins—running rampant between their high walls.

Thinking everything will remain the same as it always has there, Aster is startled to discover that one day . . . the cycle breaks. As a young new leader takes a strange and—at times—horrifying interest in her, will she be capable of discovering the reasons behind his actions and orders?

In a world where nothing is as it seems and all things are never anywhere near as simple as they appear at first glance, will she be capable of making the distinction between what is real and what is not? Will she find anyone at all she can trust? More importantly . . . Does she have the strength to do what is necessary to survive in a world filled with evil?

Reave by C. Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

Amazing story! C. Miller's characters and story blew my mind! I have never read a book more complex and intriguing in thought and context. There was never a moment that didn't make you think more and I loved every single sec.

I loved all the characters in this one I don't know that I could pick a fav as they were all so intricate. I loved them each differently as Aster would say...lol... but in this one, the one that stuck out the most was Chase. His story and his love for Aster was beautiful and I liked how they looked out for one another. I also liked Chandler, Ahren, Stanley and Stewart. I got a kick out of them a lot as they all fell under Asters spell.

With danger looming over their heads at all times in the story it made it quite stressful for the characters and made the story tense for most of the time as the characters were at each others throats more times then not...lol...it made the ending more dramatic as well and I couldn't wait to read the next one as I went right out to buy it!..lol...I think this is defiantly one of the best reads of the year for me! C. Miller is a brilliant writer and I can't wait to see more from this series!

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

Amazing Book! Ripley Patton is a awesome storyteller and I couldn't get enough of this story! the twists the turns and the backbone of these characters was incredible and I loved every minute of their journey.

I couldn't wait for this book as I had so many unanswered questions from the last book about where the characters were going and what was going to happen, I found that Ripley is a sneaky and sassy writer and no matter how many questions she answers she leaves you hanging in the end with a thousand more!...lol...I really hope this isn't the end for the Ghost brigade as I like to call them as I really have grown attached and would like to read more to see what fate has in store for them now.

I really have grown fond of them all, Passion is a big fav of mine and I would really like to get to know more about the mysterious kids sis as I am sure everyone would. I really miss Nose and Yale and maybe they could meet someone like them in a new book.

Ghost Heart Excerpt from PASSION'S Perspective

"Passion, we're going to have to break cover," Jason said, talking loudly so I could hear him over the roar of the river. "I'll go first and scout out a clear path. Then I'll come back for you, but it could take a while. Just be patient and stay hidden."
"Okay," I said.
"Once we're past this bend in the river, we should be able to move faster," he said, crawling away from me and scrambling through the brush out onto the open rocks. Then, he stood and moved cautiously around several large boulders, his gun in hand, never giving me a backward glance.
It took a moment for it to sink in; I was utterly alone in the wilderness. I glanced around, the stillness expanding away from me in all directions. Now there was nothing to distract me from the panic rising in me like a feral animal determined to scratch its way out. What if Jason didn't come back? What if he'd left me here for the CAMFers to find so I wouldn't slow him down?
No, he would come back. He had to. He was all I had left. I just needed to focus and stop freaking out.
I waited, ten or fifteen minutes maybe. Something rustled in the brush above my head. It was a red-winged black bird perched on a branch, peering down at me with beady eyes as if to say, "What are you doing here, human? This is not your place."
A gunshot pierced the air, and I jumped up, my hand feeling for the knife in my pocket, the black bird fluttering into the sky.
The sound reverberated, echoing up and down the river canyon. I couldn't tell which way it had come from. Had it been Jason's .22 or a CAMFer's gun?
I waited, my body braced for more shots, but none came. What did that mean? Could the CAMFers take Jason down with one shot? Surely he'd have gotten one off too? What if they'd shot him?
What if I was truly on my own now? I took a deep breath, ready to call out for him. Screw the CAMFers. Screw everyone. Anything would be better than dying in the woods alone.
And then I heard voices, male voices, coming closer, and I ducked down into my little brush hole just before a troop of armed men came around the bend from the direction Jason had gone. There were eight of them, four clumped close together in the middle. When they got to the boulders, they spread out a little, and I could see what they were guarding so carefully.
It was Jason.
The group stopped, and one of them shoved him face-first against a large, flat rock while another handcuffed his wrists behind him. I didn't see Jason's gun, but obviously, he didn't have it anymore. They made him stand and searched him. When they were frisking his pant legs, there was a discussion between the two who had bound him and another one, maybe the leader, but I couldn't hear it because the wind had shifted toward the river.
One of the men crouched down in front of Jason and grabbed the bottom of his right pant leg.
Jason kicked, clipping the crouching man in the chin with his boot, sending him sprawling backward onto the rocks.
Immediately, four of them were on Jason, pinning him down spread-eagle, yelling at him with their black guns drawn.
I clutched my knife, the handle digging painfully into my palm. What was he thinking? They were going to kill him for sure now.
The guy who was down staggered to his feet, shaking his head and clutching his jaw. The leader put a hand on his shoulder, asking him something, and when he nodded, they both moved toward Jason, blocking my view of him altogether.
What were they doing? I had to stop them. If I gave myself up, if I stepped out of the woods, it might defuse the situation.
I stood up and took a tentative step forward.
From that angle, I could see Jason's face, his eyes instantly connecting with mine. He was the only one facing me. All the men were focused on him.
"No," he shouted, as the leader grabbed at his ankle and yanked up the cuff of his pants, revealing the glowing blue pulse of his PSS leg. I'd never seen it before, even in all the weeks we'd camped together on the way to Indy. Jason hid his leg the way I hid my scars, and for much the same reason.
His eye bored into mine over the shoulder of the men holding him. His "no" hadn't been for them. It had been for me. I nodded at him and stepped back into hiding, my body sinking soundlessly down the same way my heart was sinking in my chest.
What would they do now? Kill him or extract him? And what could I do but watch? If I gave myself up, they'd simply do the same to me.

I the ending in this one was so heartbreaking and tragic and I hope for a better beginning for the characters in the new book. The art and music in this one was amazing as art are only touched on in the first and being a big lover of both I revelled in these aspects of the book.

My Review

Ghost Hand by Ripley Patton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

Incredible story! Ripley Patton is a talented and creative genius! I couldn't get enough of the story and certainly couldn't put it down..lol...this was so unique and intriguing that you never knew what was going to happen next and I loved that. I also loved that it was a story unlike any I have ever come across before. Totally unique and completely incredible!

I really enjoyed each and everyone of the characters in this story except maybe Jason who was a complete pain in the ass which I hope he gets better in the next book. Nose was cool and I liked his sense of humour, Yale is a passive guy who doesn't like to see others hurt and we didn't get to know much about him but I got the overall sense that he was a good guy to have at your back and Marcus well there were times I liked him and others I didn't but overall he was a good leader and a solid guy. Emma was one of my favs, she was a true and loyal friend and I hope we see more of her in book 2.

The bad guys were atrocious! they were everywhere an they never gave up! they were really good and really sneaky. they didn't pull any punches and they used heavy handed tactics to get what they wanted. In other words they were the ultimate villains! not to mention all the gadgets they used to their advantage! these guys were good and I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves next.

This was on the best Paranormal reads of the year as it was unique and totally original! a great read for all you Paranormal fans out there!

WW4BB & GCR Presents: A Book Highlight of Game On by Collette West

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 8:17:00 pm

Title: Game On
Author: Collette West
Genre: Romance
Publication: October 17th, 2014

Pitching phenom Bruce "Jilly" Gillette has a hard time talking to women. His hulking presence of tattoos and muscles is what makes him an intimidating closer on the mound, yet off the field, he's painfully shy, uncomfortable in his own skin.

Desperate to revamp his loner image, the New York Kings hold a dream date contest, granting the lucky winner a night on the town with their surly reliever, doing whatever it takes to force Jilly out of his comfort zone.

Hailey Halpert enters the contest on a whim, looking for answers as to why her high school relationship with Jilly hit the skids. Now she’s a popular romance author writing under a pen name, and her reappearance in Jilly's life is no accident. It turns out that her novels are all about the sexy players on the Kings, and Jilly has no clue that he's about to become her new leading man.

His clumsy attempt to show his feelings started off as something beautiful, something I'll never forget, and I want him to know that.
"Jilly…" I say tentatively, and his eyes instantly snap to mine. "The way you held me all through the night, felt so…right. The way you touched me, running your hand up and down my arm, and later when you were stroking the inside of my palm with your thumb. God…it felt so good. You didn't have to say anything. I could feel it."
"You don't know how long I'd wanted to do that," he whispers softly, his face turning red.
I smile, breaking eye contact because I'm completely overwhelmed. He's saying the words I've always wanted him to say. This is the talk we should've had a long time ago, and I want him to know everything that's in my heart.
I meet his eyes again. "What made it even better was that…you didn't have to touch me in all of those places…any other guy would have to make me want you. Your fingers on my arm were enough. I was in agony being so close to you and not being able to do anything more. I wanted you to take me somewhere, anywhere, to finish what you started—upstairs to one of the bedrooms, outside on the porch, in the back seat of the car—so I could kiss you everywhere I wanted to—but you didn't."
He's staring at me so intently that I'm afraid to go on, but I have to. I'm almost there.
"I know neither of us got much sleep that night because all I could feel was your hand caressing my body from my neck to my fingertips. But the next morning, as soon as it got light, you couldn't wait to get out of there. You started muttering to yourself about being late for something, propped me up on the side of the couch, and left me there. You didn't even say goodbye. Do you have any idea what that felt like?"
He meets my eyes for a second before looking away. "If you were tightly wound, you can imagine how I felt. You don't remember what you were doing right before that, do you? How you were running your leg up and down mine? Your knee at my—” He stops, burying his head in his hands. “I had to get out of there because I—"
I swallow, realizing now why he did what he did.
          "But I could've…" I stammer. "Helped you…with that."
He pushes himself away from the table, and I'm afraid he's going to leave me sitting there all alone again. "I didn't know what to do. I—"
"Jilly, I was yours for the taking."
"Are you still?" His gaze burns into me.
I look into his soulful, brown eyes, which are holding nothing back from me. He's taking a giant leap for me now, even if he couldn't do it back when we were kids. Things could've turned out so differently if he had, but here we are, in New York City, sitting across a table from each other, four years older, four years wiser.
I’d thought he was lost to me forever, never to be a part of my life again. But he's here, offering me a second chance at what I've always wanted—to be with him.

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball's biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette's impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.

Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she's not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.

She is the author of NIGHT GAMES, GAME CHANGER and GAME ON.

Stefan's 'Ripper-esque Intensity' and 'Happy' Elena

[Video] 'The Vampire Diaries' Sneak Peek: Stefan's 'Ripper-esque Intensity' and 'Happy' Elena

What is Elena going to be like after Elena's compulsion? Who's Caroline's new "breakfast buddy"? How does Stefan react to Enzo killing his girlfriend? The previews out for this week's episode of CW's The Vampire Diaries, "Welcome to Paradise," tease the answers to those questions and more.

In this next episode, Elena tries to bring fun back into their lives, Tyler asks Liv for a favor and Stefan returns to track down Enzo. Meanwhile, after discovering someone filled in a crossword clue, Damon and Bonnie find more clues that they're not alone.

The Vampire Diaries Recap: Can Elena Forget Damon?>>>

Watch the promo for "Welcome to Paradise":

Stefan requests time off work to go kill Enzo for killing Ivy, and he has visual proof for his boss. When Elena invites him to the swimming hole, he wants to know if Enzo will be there, and there's going to be a confrontation in the woods. Plus, there's a fire, Enzo needs to do a taste test to determine if there's blood or pie on his shirt, Liv and Tyler get close and Bonnie gets a glimpse at the other person wherever she and Damon are.

Check out a sneak peek:

Caroline had "a momentary moment of weakness," but despite what she may have said the night before, she's not moving back in, though that is something Elena is planning to work on at a later time. "Needing your friends isn't a weakness," Elena insists, and she thinks Caroline needs to cut Stefan some slack because he lost his brother, "granted said brother was a soulless, homicidal maniac." Say hello to the new, post-compulsion Elena.

Meanwhile, Caroline and Enzo have become "breakfast buddies." "Ironically, he's recently become one of the more stable people in my life," Caroline explains. Will she be put in an awkward position when Stefan hunts her new friend down?

See what executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries have to say about this next TVD episode:

Because, as Plec puts it, "Enzo really crossed a line by killing Ivy," Stefan is forced to go home, "the last place on this planet" that he wants to be to kill him, driven by a "Ripper-esque intensity."

Elena "doesn't seem like her old self," Caroline insists, but Matt thinks that's just "because she's happy," the point of the compulsion. "She's just a college girl who's out looking for a good time," Dries explains.

Finally, Damon and Bonnie have to do the normal, every-day things like shopping even though they're stuck reliving the same day. "We have proof we're not alone," she points out, and they're going to be trying to figure out what's going on.
