About the book

By the use of divination and magic, some ties can never be severed.

In the beginning, by the light of the Full Moon, Frankie connects with Candice's energy through dream time and witnesses her involvement in a terrifying act of violence. After receiving information from Sandra that their childhood friend is missing, they pack their bags and head to the inner city to find her.

Frankie, afraid for her own safety, has a chance encounter with a local named Calvin who is plugged into what's happening. Using his workable ideas—as well as Frankie and Sandra consulting tarot, ordinary playing cards, astrology, and spell-casting—they set forth to free Candice from the dangerous situation she is in.

My Review

Severed Ties by Angie Skelhorn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wonderful book! Angie is a great writer with a wonderful grasp of how to bring her readers to the edge of their seats quickly. I couldn't put the book down as soon as I picked it up! Severed Ties is dark, gritty and a surreal story that will touch your heart.

Frankie Connects to her friend Candice in a dream one night and Frankie knows that Candice is in trouble. She runs to her best friend Sandra for help and the two set off in sure of finding their friend in the hopes of saving her from her unknown fate.

with the help of their magic, and some new friends along the way Frankie and Sandra are going to do whatever it takes to bring their friend home. When they find her things are worse then they thought and it is going to take some heavy planning to get Candice home. With a lot of faith, plenty of magic, and some stealthy friends they just might pull this off.

This book was so dark and sad for the most part and I have to commend Angie for being so bold and brave to write a book like this. It must have been so hard to write about some of this stuff. Their is drugs violence, drive by shootings, strippers and much more in this book so it is not for those who can't deal with these issues, or doesn't want to. Angie's story was dark and beautiful and I loved it!

for those of you who are brave enough to try TBR it today!

Excerpt

Sandra leaned against the door frame, reached into her low-rider jeans’ back pocket and produced an envelope. She passed the folded paper to her. Frankie stared at the picture, reading the words: Child Find, Missing; young female seventeen, eyes hazel, brown hair, height 5’7”, weight 120.

“How could you keep this from me?” she asked, tightening her grip on the envelope.

“I didn’t. Yesterday, my mom received her Visa bill. She gave me the envelope when she saw Candice’s picture. I phoned her parents. They are in the middle of a divorce. Her mom said when they first split, she began to stay out late. Then one day she just never came home.”

“We have to find her. The police haven’t been able to,” Frankie said, waving the envelope.

“We will do what we must do to track her. Did you bring your cards?”

“Yes.”

“Come with me,” she said, grabbing her hand. She dragged her into the dish room stopping to retrieve her Tarot deck from the pocket of her jean jacket.
