WW4BB Presents: Darkness Before Dawn Trilogy by J.A. London

Posted by Amanda Masters on 5:33:00 pm

Darkness Before Dawn (Darkness Before Dawn, #1)Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked these these to post because they sounded like my kind of books so I put them on my to read list and I just finally got to them yesterday I read them in one sitting they were so good! I often come across books that sound intriguing to me and I have to read them..lol... I haven't read a good vampire book series in awhile either not since the House of Comarré Series by Kristen Painter which was a totally rockin series had a totally different feel from this one. Where the Comarré where blood slaves where these people are on their own basically prisoners in towns of their own making of of their own choice because to go outside the walls is to go in vampire Territory. every so often they make blood donations to the vampire overlord outside the wall but people who give blood are not forced to do so. If they do give blood then the vampires do not enter the city and the humans don't go in vampire territory.

I really enjoyed the series and I really enjoyed the characters. Dawn is a very well rounded character very mature for her age because she has been forced to grow up quickly in a world that isn't safe if your out past dark. She has lost much in her life and has taken on very much responsibility for her young age but she is strong and confident and has the heart to see things through.

I really liked Victor I think out of all the main characters he was my favorite. He has a good heart and he and Dawn have a lot in common. They have the same goals and same vison when it comes to what they want to do with the people and vampire nations and I think if they worked together hard enough they could see it though.

Micheal and Teagan where also awesome characters very loyal hardworking and dedicated to the cause. Micheal drove me a little crazy at times with his ranting and stuff but at his core is a good guy and a great friend.

And the bad guys? you couldn't have asked for better bad guys. creepy or what! I totally loved these books and couldn't put them down until they had be read through! I was up til 1 in the morning finishing the second. I can't wait for the next one! J.A. London is now one of my fav authors! I was truly hooked from the first word and I bow down to you!

Only sunlight can save us.

We built the wall to keep them out, to keep us safe. But it also makes us prisoners, trapped in what's left of our ravaged city, fearing nightfall.

After the death of my parents, it's up to me--as the newest delegate for humanity--to bargain with our vampire overlord. I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the monsters. Then again, nothing could have prepared me for Lord Valentine... or his son. Maybe not all vampires are killers. Maybe it's safe to let one in.

Only one thing is certain: Even the wall is not enough. A war is coming and we cannot hide forever.

There's nowhere left to hide.

I thought vampires were our enemies - they controlled our lives, isolated our cities, and demanded our blood - until I met Victor. With Victor taking over as the new Lord Valentine, things were supposed to get better. Instead, they're worse than ever.

Day Walkers, a new breed of vampires who can walk in the sun, are terrorizing the city. Blood supplies are low, and if Victor's vampires don't get enough, they will become infected with the Thirst - a disease that will turn them into mindless killers.

To stop it, I must journey across the desolate wasteland to the very place where the sickness began. I can only hope that the answers that await me are enough to save us all... before it's too late.

WW4BB Presents: Isolation by Dan Wells book 0.5 in the Partials Series

Posted by Amanda Masters on 2:37:00 pm

Isolation by Dan Wells

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I couldn't believe when I saw this was out! I loved the Partial book and can't wait to read more in the series so when I saw that Dan Wells had created a 0.5 Book well I snatched it right up!..lol...I finally got to it in my reading list..lol...I got to say thought I liked the book I was a little disappointed with it I was hoping for at least some connection to the Partial book would be in this but there was nothing at all but at the same time not surprising as it takes place two decades before Partial began, even though you still look for something similar to hold on to even if it is in the landscape and not the people. The story also jumps beck and forth from the present to the past which I also found confusing and the main character goes by two names, Heron and Mei at the beginning so you think they are two separate people. You soon learn however that they are the same person on different missions in two different time periods and then it gets a little easier to understand.

What I liked about this book is that you get to understand a little bit about why the Partial army took their stand and why they are at war with humans in Partial. You also get to be inside Herons mind so you get to know how she thinks and feels which is a lot different then a humans and why she is the way she is. All in all it was a ok book but I enjoyed Partial a whole lot more and can't wait for book 2!

Two decades before the events of Partials, the world was locked in a different battle for survival: a global war for the last remaining oil reserves on the planet. It was for the Isolation War that the American government contracted the ParaGen Corporation to manufacture the Partials—our last hope in reclaiming energy independence from China. And it was on these fields of battle that the seeds of humanity's eventual destruction were sown.

Isolation takes us back to the front lines of this war, a time when mankind’s ambition far outstripped its foresight. Heron, a newly trained Partial soldier who specializes in infiltration, is sent on a mission deep behind enemy lines. What she discovers there has far-reaching implications—not only for the Isolation War, but for Partials and humans alike long after this war is over.

A powerful take of our world on the brink, Isolation gives readers a glimpse into the history from which Partials was born—as well as clues to where the Partials Sequence is heading next.

Full Moon Kisses by Ellen Schreiber

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just want to say WOW great book! The full moon series was amazing! Ellen Schreiber is a superb writer and I have enjoyed reading her books this one of course is no exception!

The charactors where as thrilling as always with Celeste and Brandon's relationship growing and expanding into a more mature, loving and safe place. Nash is his usual obnoxious self in this book but I find that even he grows and matures.

There are new characters in this book as well some new visitors to town Ryder, Leopold and Hunter. They have come to town for the werewolf festival but they have really come to town to make trouble. Brandon also has past history with them Ryder especially and tempers heat between the two.

all in all it was a great book and I totally recommend it to all!

Beware of the full moon.
A werewolf wants to take you into his world.
Forever.Celeste and Brandon know that Nash in werewolf form is bad news for them. But a vague new prediction from psychic Dr. Meadows has Celeste wondering: Which of them wants to turn her into a werewolf?

Still on their minds is the “cure” from Brandon’s father. Brandon must decide — if his Dad’s serum really does work, is he willing to give up being a werewolf for good? And is Celeste willing to give up her heroic werewolf boyfriend? And when Nash finds out there’s a cure, will he try to take it from Brandon?

Things grow still more complicated when a gang of sketchy guys from a neighboring town comes to Legend’s Run for the big Werewolf Festival. What are they looking for, and why does it seem they have their sights on Celeste?

The third and final installment in this romantic series is full of danger, mystery, and romantic full moon kisses.

WW4BB Presents: Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout Book 3.5 in the Covenant Series

Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was AWESOME! I have really enjoyed reading the Covenant Series, being pagan I don't come across stories of gods and goddess often that I enjoy but this series is totally awesome! I really enjoy the characters Alex of course is my fav! she is so tough and hard headed and never backs down from a fight. She knows what she wants and no one is going to stand in her way not even the gods themselves!

Aidan is of course my other fav character he is like a male version of Alex except a little more reserved he doesn't rush in guns blaring but thinks fist before he acts then rushes in and kicks everyone's ass!..lol

Seth is a complex character he makes you want to like him as he is suppose to be Alex's perfect other half but I never liked him from the beginning he does kick as when needed but he is whinny and needy and just plain boring as a character up until this book when he suddenly grows a personality? where was he hiding that? I am not buying it. no way could he have faked being that boring for 3 whole books...lol

And this book we get to meet some Gods and Goddesses so cool! the book overall was a smashing success! and I can't wait to read number 4!

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.

WW4BB Presents: Intertwined Series by Gena Showalter

Posted by Amanda Masters on 12:17:00 pm

when I saw these books I was first drawn in by the covers which are so beautiful! and I don't come across many stories that are about boy characters so when I come across on I make sure I read the except I want to have as many on my blog for boys as I can as I have 2 boys at home and I know how hard it is to find stories for them to read. When I read the excerpt on these books I was very interqued and so were my boys so that was enough for me they went in the to read pile...lol...so as soon as I read them I will give you a review.

There’s something about the new guy at Crossroads High…

Most sixteen-year-olds have friends. Aden Stone has four human souls living inside him:

One can time travel.

One can raise the dead.
One can possess another human.
One can tell the future.

Everyone thinks he’s crazy, which is why he’s spent his entire life shuffled between mental institutions and juvie. All of that is about to change, however. For months Aden has been having visions of a beautiful girl—a girl who carries centuries-old secrets. A girl who will either save him or destroy him.

Together they’ll enter a dark world of intrigue and danger... but not everyone will come out alive.

Since coming to Crossroads, Oklahoma, former outcast Aden Stone has been living the good life. Never mind that one of his best friends is a werewolf, his girlfriend is a vampire princess who hungers for his blood, and he's supposed to be crowned Vampire King—while still a human! Well, kind of.

With four—oops, three now—human souls living inside his head, Aden has always been "different" himself. These souls can time-travel, raise the dead, possess another's mind and, his least favorite these days, tell the future.

The forecast for Aden? A knife through the heart.

Because a war is brewing between the creatures of the dark, and Aden is somehow at the center of it all. But he isn't about to lie down and accept his destiny without a fight. Not when his new friends have his back, not when Victoria has risked her own future to be with him, and not when he has a reason to live for the first time in his life….

His vampire girlfriend might have brought him back to life, but he's never felt more out of control. There's a darkness within him, something taking over…changing him. Worse, because he was meant to die, death now stalks him at every turn. Any day could be his last.

Once upon a time, the three souls trapped inside his head could have helped him. He could have protected himself. But as the darkness grows stronger, the souls grow weaker—just like his girlfriend. The more vampire Aden becomes, the more human Victoria becomes, until everything they know and love is threatened.

Life couldn't get any worse. Could it?

WW4BB Presents: Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless!

Posted by Amanda Masters on 12:04:00 pm

A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this."

He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it...?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do thi
s?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We may feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.

Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE.

WW4BB Presents: Hope by Emily Dickinson

Posted by Amanda Masters on 8:36:00 pm

Hope

by Emily Dickinson

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG! This book was freaking great!I read it in a couple of hours it was awesome! I think this one has got to be my favorite one in the series so far. it was action packed and there wasn't quite as much fighting between daemon and Katy as in the the previous books although I did get a kick out out their fighting for a while. I loved meeting Dawson too and getting to know him a bit as the other books just touch on his character. I ending was freaking great and I am on pins and needles to read what happens next!

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.
